North Texas Eye Care Disease Management

Keratoconus

An early indication of keratoconus is blurred vision that can not be corrected with glasses. As the disease progresses, a patient may no longer be able to be corrected with soft contact lenses. At this point, gas permeable, scleral, or hybrid contact lenses may provide a dramatic increase in visual accuity. We are also currently involved in a study for corneal cross linking with Dr. Kirk Labor of Eye Consultants of Texas. Corneal cross linking is a new procedure, currently going through clinical trials, that can slow or halt the progression of keratoconus.
